About Alger Designs

Alger Designs was born from a deep love of dance, resilience through challenges, and a passion for creating something truly unique. As a former dancer, I know firsthand the importance of feeling confident and comfortable in your dancewear. My journey hasn’t been a straight path—it’s been one of discovery, reinvention, and creativity.

I danced professionally until injuries led me in a new direction. Stepping away from performing, I pursued graduate school at the University of Arizona, where I reconnected with dance in a way I hadn’t expected. That experience reignited my creativity, and in 2013, I launched Alger Designs. I had no sewing background, no machine, and no formal training—just an idea and the determination to bring it to life. Using my own body as the base for my first patterns, I learned through trial and error, refining my designs until Alger Designs became an internationally recognized brand.

As my career evolved, I took on new roles, serving as Associate Artistic Director for a non-profit youth dance company and later moving into higher education, where I continue to teach and mentor the next generation of dancers. After the pandemic, I stepped back from large-scale production and focused on custom designs for my local clientele. Then in 2022, I rebranded Alger Designs as a trademarked company under my corporation, Ruby Red. Now, with a renewed focus and a brand-new website, I’m excited to bring Alger Designs back with the same commitment to artistry, quality, and individuality that started it all.

A New Chapter

Alger Designs has always been about more than just dancewear. A well-made leotard can transform how a dancer feels in the studio—offering not just comfort and durability, but confidence and self-expression. My goal is to create pieces that move with you, flatter your unique lines, and make you feel your absolute best.

With this new chapter, I’m also inviting dancers and their families to explore the full Ruby Red experience. Beyond dancewear, Ruby Red offers ways to celebrate the moments that make a dancer’s journey special. Whether it’s a performance, a competition, or simply a gathering of friends, I offer custom cupcakes to match your dancer’s leotard and vintage dish rentals to create a beautiful setting for a celebration.
